Letter of condolence from Jacques Chirac, President of the Republic, to Lech Kaczynski, President of Poland, following the collapse of an exhibition hall in Chorzów,

Paris, January 29, 2006

President Kaczynski, [handwritten: Dear Friend],

I was deeply shocked to learn the news of the terrible accident which occurred on Saturday evening in Chorzów. In these painful circumstances, I want to extend to you, on behalf of the French people and personally, my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy in the ordeal.

I would be grateful if you would kindly convey my sympathy and sadness to the bereaved.
