Letter of congratulations from M. Jacques Chirac, President of the Republic, to Shaikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait

Paris, February 15, 2006

Your Highness,

At this time when Your Highness is acceding to the office of Crown Prince of Kuwait, I want to extend to You my warm congratulations and most sincere wishes of success.

The partnership between France and Kuwait is a long-standing one, based on solid ties of friendship. Our two States see very much eye to eye on all the Middle East problems. In an unstable regional environment, France will continue, as in the past, to maintain her commitment vis-à-vis the security of Kuwait.

It would give me great pleasure to welcome Your Highness to France, on the date You deem most suitable, to pursue the fruitful and regular exchanges between our two countries.

Once again, my warmest congratulations on Your new, important office, (complimentary close, with handwritten addition)./.
