Earthquake in South Asia

French humanitarian assistance to the earthquake affected areas of Pakistan

Paris, October 10, 2005

So far, the French government has sent to Pakistan :

- An Aircraft C-135, ferrying a 20 member rescue team along with necessary equipment, two trained dogs for the search of injured persons and five experts to assess additional needs. The rescue team is already working on the ground ;

- An Airbus carrying 40 emergency doctors, 17 military doctors and medical equipment;

- One aircraft C-135 ferrying medical equipment, including an advanced surgical unit ;

An additional aircraft will take off shortly, carrying 90 tons of humanitarian emergency assistance. More flights might be organized according to the needs.
