Disappearance of French journalist in Iraq

Interview given by Michel Barnier, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to "Europe 1", (excerpts)

Paris, January 9, 2005

(...)

Q. – (...) What information do you have, or can you possibly give us, on the fate of the "Libération" journalist Florence Aubenas, whom we've had no news of since Wednesday morning, who's gone missing in Baghdad?

THE MINISTER – We've had no news of Florence Aubenas and her guide Hussein Hanoun, we're not forgetting him. They disappeared more than three days ago now. Listen, we've received some information from journalists who met armed men, according to whom they're in good health, but (...) we're seeking to verify this, there is no proof. What I can simply say is that we're mobilized, the Quai d'Orsay, all our services on the ground in Baghdad are mobilized again, as we were for Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot from day one [of their capture] until their release./.
