France/Poland Letter of congratulations from Jacques Chirac, President of the Republic, to Lech Kaczynski, President of Poland
Paris, October 23, 2005
President Kaczynski, The Polish people have just demonstrated their confidence in you by electing you President of Poland for five years. It is a pleasure for me to congratulate you most sincerely and most warmly wish you every success in your new office. In carrying out these important responsibilities, you will be able to count on France's wholehearted support. The European Union is enriched by your great nation's presence within it. I am convinced that under your leadership, Poland will play an even more positive role in Europe. I also firmly believe that during your mandate, our two countries will pursue and deepen the already very substantive bilateral cooperation they have established in many spheres. I am keen for us to maintain a regular personal dialogue, in particular to prepare our next summit consultations, an annual high point in France and Poland's relationship. Even before this meeting, I would be very pleased to welcome you to Paris early next year to discuss with you the main international, European and bilateral issues. (complimentary close, with handwritten addition)./.
