Letter from M. Jacques Chirac, President of the Republic, to Mr Pervez Musharraf, President of Pakistan

President Musharraf,

I was extremely shocked to learn of the violent earthquake which struck Pakistan this morning.

In these tragic circumstances, I want to express to you, personally and on behalf of the French people, our wholehearted solidarity and full support. France is at Pakistan’s side in this painful ordeal.

I send you my very deepest sympathy, and please would you convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved.
