TERRORIST ATTACKS IN TURKEY

Message of condolence from Noëlle Lenoir, Minister Delegate for European Affairs, to Denis MacShane, Minister of State for Europe of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Paris, November 20, 2003

Minister, dear Denis,

I was horrified and appalled to learn of this morning’s terrorist attacks in Istanbul, which have hit the British nation so hard, and I wanted straightaway to express to you my deep sympathy and solidarity.

I know your compatriots’ courage and determination in adversity, and I assure you of France and the French people’s deep sympathy in the face of our common enemy: international terrorism. Together, and within the European Union, I am certain our two countries will find the way to build a safer world.

(complimentary close)./.
