Paris, 16 November 2003

The Prime Minister, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, is deeply shocked and appalled by the despicable attack which has just caused the death of Mlle Bettina Goislard, an employee of the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees, who was carrying out outstanding humanitarian work in Ghazni, Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister shares the grief of our compatriot's family and loved-ones.

He also reaffirms the French government's unwavering determination to fight terrorism and advocate solutions to the current problems based on the law and democracy, not crime and intimidation./.
