Ninth Summit on Francophony in Beirut October 17-20, 2002
As the highest body in multilateral Francophonie, the Conference of Heads of State and Government of Countries Using French as a Common Language convenes a meeting every two years in order to define the main directions for Francophonie. After Versailles in 1986, Quebec in 1987, Dakar in 1989, Paris in 1991 and Mauritius in 1993, Cotonou in 1995, Hanoi in 1997, Moncton in 1999, and Beirut in 2002.
