International Criminal Court
Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson (excerpts)

Paris, July 15, 2002

I would like to read the statement the spokesperson made July 13. France is satisfied with the agreement reached in the Security Council last night in New York.
The agreement preserves the authority of the International Criminal Court, which was our main objective, while providing a response to the practical problems resulting from the fact that certain states, in particular the United States, are not party to the Court. In so doing, the solution allows the U.N. to continue its peace missions in Bosnia and elsewhere in the world, as the U.N. secretary-general said last night.
