There are prohibitions and restrictions (import permits) on plants and plant products imported into France.

As a rule, all plants and plant products should be presented for inspection, at the port of entry, by officers of the Plant Health Inspection Service ("contrôle phytosanitaire").

You should check in advance with:

France
tel: 011-331.49.55.81.53
fax: 011-331.49.55.51.06

Endangered species or threatened species of plants and plant products are also covered by the provisions of the CITES Convention. Where importation is not prohibited, those will require an export permit from the country of origin and a French import permit, issued by the Ministry of the Environment. Refer to Endangered Species.
